On Monday 4th of December team GBS fire Protection LTD donned their finest and headed down to the JW Marriott on Park Lane for the annual Security & Fire Excellence Awards.
Here we were honoured to be nominated for the “Passive Fire Project of the Year”.
Our nomination was with regards to Rich Industrial Estate for one of our long-standing clients London Square.
The Rich Industrial Estate project was old Tannery building which was also listed. The ceiling heights
between floors was very low, and due to this, systems that are normally used in new build projects were not feasible.
This scheme was repurposing an old factory to flats and this opened a plethora of issues; mainly how to bring this building to current times. One of the biggest issues was the ceiling heights, by following building regulations, occupied apartments must have certain ceiling height. And with all the services above the ceiling there was very little room of how to achieve the 120min Fire Rating required.
Hosted by the hilarious comedian Rob Beckett our team thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Unfortunately it wasn’t our night but it was great to be a part of this fantastic event.
